LENT DAY 8, MARCH12-WED

REFLECTIONS:  READ act 10;34-43

“Peter…said, ‘In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.  Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him.”  Each person we meet is a special gift from God.  GIVE 25cents to your Rice Bowl for every new person you met today.

PRAYER:  Count it all Joy, my brother, when you meet trails of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  James 1:2-3

Lord, you know the trials that my family has experienced.  I have been tested in so many ways as I have taken up the crosses of family.  Heavenly Father, I know that more struggles are sure to come in the days ahead.  Use the trials in my life as a way to produce a steadfast faith in me.  Let me count the crosses I carry as joy.  Let me be there for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. Amen

IN TOUCH WITH THE SPIRIT

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.  Psalm 51:12

The spiritual life is a life that is guided by God’s Spirit, the same Spirit that guided the life of Jesus.  So the question is how to be in touch with the Spirit, hear the voice of the Spirit and allow ourselves to be guided by the Spirit.  This is not so easy in a world where there are so many things going on and so many voice calling for our attention.  Can we create some space for God where we can hear, feel and experience the Spirit of God, and where it becomes possible for us to respond?  Is there space in our lives where the Spirit of God has a chance of getting our attention?

Holy Spirit, draw my heart to you.

Have a blessed Lent
