LENT, DAY 35, TUES, APRIL 8

REFLECTION:  STATION 10;  JESUS IS STRIPPED OF HIS GARMENTS

In 2010 difficult conditions in Haiti were made worse by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.  Thousands of people were stripped of access to clean water.  How many water faucets are in your house?  GIVE 23 cents to your Rice bowl for each.

PRAYERS:  Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.  Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.  Leviticus 19:13

Razor-thin margins and tight budgets result in a great deal of pressure.  Heavenly Father, do not let the pressures of work tempt me to do harm to my neighbor.  Through lean times and times of plenty, remind me that I am constantly to seek the well-being of my neighbor.  The crosses of work can be over whelming, Lord.  Free me from the temptation of exploiting my neighbor for personal gain.  Bless me with all that I need so that I may bless my neighbor in turn. Amen.  by Trevor Sutton:  “Take Up Your Cross”.

THE MYSTERY OF THE PASSION:  PRAY TO THE LORD TO TAKE AWAY THE SERPENTS FROM US.  Numbers 21:7

O Lord, this holy season of Lent is passing quickly.  I entered into it with fear, but also with great expectations…Let me be thankful for your gentle way.  I know you are at work.  I know you will not leave me alone.  I know you are quickening me for Easter–but in a way fitting to my own history and my own temperament.  I pray that these…last weeks, in which you invite me to enter more fully into the mystery of your passion, will bring me a greater desire to follow you on the way that you create for me and to accept the cross that you give to me.  Let me die to the desire to choose my own way and select my own cross.  You do not want to make me a hero but a servant who loves you.

Lord Jesus, make me your servant this Lent.

This Lent pray for desire to choose his ways.
