REFLECTION: READ 1 John 3:11-18 “The way we came to know love was that he laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.” PRAY for all those who love you, and for all those who have no one else to PRAY for them.
PRAYERS: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the starts, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4
The cross of Christ began as a seed. You, O Lord, provided soil to nourish that seed. You brought forth rain and sunlight to sustain its growth. You painstakingly prepared the tree upon which your Son would one day die. And you did all of this for me. Who am I that you would go to such lengths for me? A willing heart, O Lord, is what I desire. The work of your hands brought forth the cross of Christ. Let the work of my hands take up my cross and follow you. Amen
GOD’S HIDDEN PROMISE: I will praise the name of God with a song’ I will magnify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30
Every prayer of petition becomes a prayer of thanksgiving and praise as well, precisely because it is a prayer of hope. In the hopeful prayer of petition, we thank God for his promise and we praise him for his trust. Our numerous requests simply become the concrete way of saying that we trust in the fullness of God’s goodness, which he wants to share with us. Whenever we pray with hope, we put our lives in the hands of God. Fear and anxiety fade away and everything we are given and everything we are deprived of is nothing but a finger pointing out the direction of God’s hidden promise, which we shall taste in full.
I give you thank and praise, loving God.
Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter, the most important 4 days of the year for a Christian. God’s hidden promise.
