- Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen creating The Allen Institute for Brain Science with a $500million bequest (www.forbes.com)( vs. the federal government’s inability to contain fraud losses within the Medicare system (now estimated at $60 – $100 billion annually)
- 3. San Diego real estate billionaire Conrad Prebys donating $100 million for medical research (www.forbes.com) vs. the federal government wasting roughly $750 billion on unnecessary or poorly delivered services and other needless costs. (www.nytimes.com/2012).
