This is a delicate area, but I just read an article that I think was printed in the NY Times condemning the Catholic Church’s stand on gay marriage and it was all wrong. For one thing, I cannot figure out how a journalist can write an article without researching both sides. I do not believe I have ever read an article where someone has actually looked at the Catholic Churches stand on homosexuality and marriage. I will tell you that our church always welcomes homosexuals, they are God’s children as we all are. Not all Catholics are as welcoming and understanding as they should be toward other children of God, but they are human, and no human is perfect.

There are 5 non-negotiables in the Catholic Church that will not change and gay marriage is one of them. Here is a question and answer regarding gay marriage from the site:

Full Question
I am a homosexual who wishes to obey the Church’s teachings on homosexuality, but I am not sure what they are. I know that the Church teaches homosexual acts are wrong, but it teaches that all sex outside of marriage is wrong–a teaching which I support. What if two homosexuals were married to each other? Would sex between them be legitimate, and could the Church ever change its position and allow homosexuals to marry?

This is a sensitive area, and you are to be commended for your commitment to support and fulfill the Church’s teaching. The answer to both questions is no.

The reason homosexual acts are wrong is not simply that they take place outside of marriage, but that they are contrary to natural design. For various reasons, both inside and outside of their control, some people have desires that are not in accord with nature. When these desires are acted upon, the result is an unnatural and immoral act. Even if two homosexuals were “married,” they would still be having unnatural sex.

The Church cannot change its teaching on marriage, which is grounded in natural law. Under natural law a man can marry only whom he was designed to marry: a woman. He cannot validly marry another man any more than he could an animal or a plant. Any attempted marriage between a man and another man would be invalid by definition. It might be recognized by the state as a legitimate marriage, but it would not be so before God.

This is a difficult teaching to hear for one struggling with homosexual desires, but it is the truth. To get help, consider contacting Courage, a nationwide Catholic organization set up to help homosexuals lead chaste lives. Their Web address of is: Our prayers are with you.
========================================================================================================= also had many other answers to questions about homosexuals and the Church. Hopefully if someone reads an article condemning the Church they will also go to this site and find out why. As one of the Bishops in this country said a short while ago, we have people in this country that have decided that what they decide is right, is the only way. Unfortunately they forget this is a free country and not everyone has to change their values and morals just because this certain group of people decide what they think is the new religion in this country. The religion of “everything is ok if they decide it is. No good vs. evil, no right vs wrong, just feelings of what they want. Sorry, you all, but the Catholic Church and Pope Francis is not changing the basic beliefs of the Church, he is just trying to make ordinary people understand that they are welcome in our Church.
There was an article awhile ago where Pope Francis married 20 couples from different situations. He did it so that Catholics who think they are not welcome back in the Church will know that they are very welcome. Some of these couples were living together, some had children and were not married, some had been divorced and/or married in a civil ceremony, all were men marrying women. The facts that weren’t mentioned is that all these people had to want to do what was right, they would of had counseling, gone to Confession, and prior marriages investigated. They would have decided to be married before God in the Sacrament of Marriage and probably become active members again of the Church. Pope Francis did this to show couples that there is always a way back to the Catholic Church if that is what they want and they are always welcome. He did not do it to let the news media think that the Church is making changes. The Church has been marrying couples in these situations for many years. In fact my marriage came under one of these situations.

Again I say, if you want to know what the Catholic Church teaches, don’t ask another Catholic, unfortunately many Catholics are sadly uninformed about their own Church. Instead, go to and check out the facts. Another site that our Pastor says is very informative is:

O GOD OF HOPE AND GLORY, you sent John the Baptist to preach the Good News of salvation to those who received it with joy and to those who rejected its demands. By his example and intercession, grant your Church courage in proclaiming and living the Gospel, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Last night I left off with this line…It’s important to our own sanity and serenity that we make our decisions and pick our actions based on VALUES AND PRINCIPLES and that we affiliate ourselves with others who share those values and principles.

“FAKING” it by making choices based on interests then affiliating with others who make the same choices and then fabricating values or principles to rationalize our choices corrodes our integrity and self-esteem.  Worse yet, rationalizing means we’ll continue saying things we don’t believe and concocting explanations FOR HOW WE’VE ‘EVOLVED’ on issues. Worst of all, we have to know “I wouldn’t want me for a friend.

He didn’t say we’d “TRY” until we ran out of enthusiasm or the pools changed.  He didn’t say we’d try for a year or two but if it didn’t go our way, we’d curl up, come home, and suck our thumbs.

Few, if any, of us participate in such weighty choices but our individual choices are equally important to those around us.  We have made commitments and have responsibilities for ourselves and others who depend on us.  It may be as simple as choosing to pay the rent rather than get a new tattoo or it may be as complex as declining an “innocent” drink-after-work proposition.  IF WE’RE STOPPING TO CONCOCT A RATIONALIZATION OR PONDERING WHETHER WE’LL GET CAUGHT, THEN WE’RE MAKING BAD DECISIONS AND IT’S TIME TO SWITCH FROM INTERESTS TO VALUES AND PRINCIPLES.  Having failed isn’t a reason to give up: TRYING ISN’T AN OPTION.

By Ken Frederic in The Eastern Gazette, 8-29-14………………………………………………………

SIMPLY PUT, WE CAN’T CHANGE ANYONE ELSE, BUT IF WE HAVE FORGOTTEN OUR PRINCIPLES AND VALUES, AND MORALS, THEN IT IS TIME TO RETHINK HOW WE ARE LIVING AND CHANGE OUR SELVES. We, each of us, need to stop agreeing to things we know are wrong, and even evil, and put our foot down and say, this is not right or maybe even, this is a SIN.  REMEMBER, IF EACH ONE OF US STANDS UP FOR WHAT WE TRULY BELIEVE, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD.  We can also make sure our children know the difference between what is truly right and truly wrong.   THE ONLY WAY FOR EVIL TO TRIUMP IS FOR GOOD TO DO NOTHING.

I just read an article I want to pass along.  It is in BACKTALK in NEWSMAX, by Christopher Ruddy, Publisher

In part he wrote:  Conservatives are very open to the idea of immigration reform.  Exit poll data from the 2012 presidential election revealed that 65 percent of voters believe most illegal immigrants working in the US should be offered a chance at legal status, compared to just 28 percent who say they should be deported. (In my opinion, it is ridiculous to think we can deport 30 million or so illegals. Deport the criminals, yes, the rest, no. Mr. Ruddy has a good suggestion).

He believes that Congress and the president can begin by taking small steps: REGISTER, TAX, AND IDENTIFY THE UNDOCUMENTED AS THE BORDER IS FINALLY SECURED. THEN LET’S TALK ABOUT THE NEXT STEP.
He said our borders are not only porous, but also dangerous, Mexico’s organized crime problem is spilling over into the US.
I believe we must all write to our congressmen/women, Republican and Democrats, and insist that they jointly pass a bill that WILL CLOSE OUR BORDERS, REGISTER, TAX AND IDENTIFY THE UNDOCUMENTED (I believe they should be given Red cards, until such time as we pass another bill allowing them to progress to green) BUT FIRST, TAKE THE FIRST SMALL STEP. AND INSIST THAT THE PRESIDENT START UPHOLDING THIS NEW LAW AND ALL THE OTHER IMMIGRANTION LAWS, AND STOP MAKING LAWS OF HIS OWN.
Of course, if the Congress would act responsibly, the President wouldn’t be able to do his own thing. IT IS UP TO US AND CONGRESS.

Thank you Mr. Ruddy for the common sense approach. I do hope Congress will listen. I wrote to Senator King from Maine, perhaps if everyone writes, we might force them to do something concrete. Just think how many years? At least 8 or 10.
And thank you all for letting me sound off, It seems we always have the same problems, no mater which party is in office, and the problems just go on and on.

I recently had a granddaughter who has decided if she wants to make a difference in the world she needs to learn more about politics. I told her that before she starts getting involved she should read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and some of the Federalist Papers. the Federalist Papers really are where the Founding Fathers explain their explanation of their intent when the wrote the Constitution. Since our Constitution has been instrumental in forming this Country and keeping us free, it is vital that we know what it entails. Then it is vital that we elect officials, Congressmen, both state and Govt. the also know and understand the Constitution. This is not the case in this day and age. Most of then have to swear to uphold the Constitution of the U.S. when they are sworn in. However, it is plain that a lot of them have no idea what they are swearing to, or they know but have no intention to uphold it. Our Constitution has been copied around the world, but we are loosing our rights everyday. It is clear that the President intends to trash the Constitution if he can.

It is vital that the current young generations study this information on their own, because they will not learn in school nor have they learned in school for the last 30 years what they need to know to protect the freedom of this country.

All libraries have those three documents, perhaps you can find them on line, there was a free course given by Hillsdale College on the Constitution last year, called Constitution 101 and another one also. They may still be available on their site. or something like that. Check it out.

Please, before any of you vote or even consider helping a candidate or voting for an amendment, please learn what your rights are before you don’t have any. Honestly, what is happening in this country happened in the 1930’s in Germany and after that in Russia. 1st brainwash the children in to believing they don’t need God or their parents, the Govt. will take care of them. That is what has been happening for the last 30 years in this country. Check it out, that’s all I’m say. Read that old book from the 1980’s DUMBING DOWN AMERICA.

I heard the other day some very sad news. The Vermont legislature voted to allow assisted suicide and their Governor signed it. I don’t know if Vermont is a State where the voters can vote something down or not but I hope so. I can’t imagine a New England state sinking to that low level.

I do not understand how a legislature can legalize murder when it is against the law and less we not forget it is against TEN COMMANDMENTS. I realize that a lot of people in this country (a minority still, thank God) do not believe in God or the Ten Commandments or just don’t care. However, there is no way to get around the fact that if you help someone kill themselves, you are committing murder. Suicide is a mortal sin, and I do hope that if a person is so desperate or in such pain that they want to kill themselves, God will understand and forgive them. However, there is no excuse for the person that helps them. Especially a doctor of nurse. Their oath says “do no damage” how can a doctor ignore this oath? It is beyond understanding and a terrible thing that is happening in the country.

All we can do is pray that there will be an awakening of some kind that will turn this country around. The reason that this country has been so much better than the others is because of OUR RESPECT FOR LIFE. NOW THERE IS NO RESPECT FOR LIFE AND IT IS SHOWING UP IN OH SO MANY WAYS.

On at least five occasions, President Obama omitted God when misquoting AMERICA’S DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.

President Obama has repeatedly failed to mention God in his official Thanksgiving messages.

President Obama mocked Congress for reaffirming America’s trust in God through a Congressional resolution and argued it was a waste of time.

“Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?” Obama’s actual words.

MR. PRESIDENT, what is the matter with following the 10 commandments as the founding father’s did? Of course that would mean an end to abortion since abortion is murder, is it not?
