NO INSTANT SOLUTIONS, CONT’D

I gave you the Peace Prayer the other day. Today we will start talking about how to pray it and use it for the good our ourselves, our neighbors and our Country.

We are asking for a great spiritual gift in the Peace Prayer. We are asking to live a life of gospel holiness, deep faith, compelling hop and self-giving love. We are asking to serve God and our brother and sisters. We are asking to be disciples.

Do we really want to pray such a prayer? Many of us are like the young Augustine: he was moved to ask God to make him chase and holy–but not just yet! Perhaps it would be more realistic to lower our goals this Lent and ask to be faithful in, say, the Ten Commandments rather then aspiring to become a self-giving instrument of God’s peace.

No, the reach of our prayers must exceed the grasp. There may be times when we don’t feel like praying a prayer that seems to put us on the spot as this one does. Yet we realize that we are called anew each day to live the gospel. We realize also that our responses of faith, ultimately are based on our will rather than on our feelings. We choose this, knowing full well that we may not be ready to choose it with our whole heart and soul. If we pray only when our faint heart conforms to all the aspirations of our prayer, how much praying would we do?

This Lent, let us humbly accept that, in our frailty, our prayer isn’t always as wholehearted as we’d like, and that, even on our best days, our weak wills may seem to be hedging.

So, folks, do we start praying and acting the St. Francis Peace Prayer? Do we start to change this Country, do we ask our teachers and our children to start acting the St. Francis Peace Prayer?  Do we start to being love, honesty, respect and hope back to this Country and our children? Do we do what really needs to be done to stop violence everywhere?

PRAYER;  Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light and where there is sadness, joy.

Give and show love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy to the people around you today. If you are a teacher, please start with your family then the children at school. God bless you all.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF UNBORN CHILDREN

Hi folks, I meant to write this just after the March for Life in Washington DC but didn’t get a chance. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 was the National Day of Prayer for Catholics all over this Country and any other Christian that wanted to take part. There were Masses and prayer groups gathered in many places. This is the Meditation of the Day in the Magnificat Magazine.

WHEN we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities–to offer just a few examples–it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected. Once the human being declares independence from reality and behaves with absolute dominion, the very foundations of our life begin to crumble, for “instead of carrying out his role as a cooperator with God in the work of creation, man sets himself up in place of God and thus ends up provoking a rebellion on the part of nature”  (Pope John Paul ll, Encyclical Letter Centesimus Annus, May 1, 1991)….

When the human person is considered as simply one being among others, the product of chance or physical determinism, then “our overall sense of responsibility wanes” (Pope Benedict XVI, Message for the 2010 World Day of Peace)

Human beings cannot be expected to feel responsibility for the world unless, at the same time, their unique capacities of knowledge, will, freedom, and responsibility are recognized and valued..

Since everything is interrelated, concern for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the justification of abortion. How can we genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however troublesome or inconvenient they may be, if we fail to protect a human embryo, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties?  If personal and social sensitivity toward the acceptance of the new life is lost, then other forms of acceptance that are valuable for society also wither away” (Pope Benedict XVI, Encyclical Letter Caritas in Veritate, June 20, 2009).

WE NEED TO DEVELOP A NEW SYNTHESIS CAPABLE OF OVERCOMING THE FALSE ARGUMENTS OF RECENT CENTURIES.  From Pope Francis’ 2015 Encyclical Laudato Si’.

AMAC ADVANTAGE magazine (The Asso. of Mature American Citizens) came out with a cover on their Winter 2018 Magazine of an unborn child and the heading: “PROTECTING THE MIRACLE OF LIFE. This is a very popular national magazine. I am so happy to see an organization accepting and protecting the unborn. It also says, ” The gift of life has been under attack for decades in the United States. AMAC is taking a stand to expose the institutions that demean the sacred blessing of life, including Planned Parenthood and the Roe v. Wade ruling. We must give a voice to those who cannot speak.  Among the articles; Planned Parenthood: The Ugly Truth; Roe v. Wade: A case of Deadly Deception, Protecting the Unborn: The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.  Unfortunately the SENATE OF THE U.S. vote down this bill this week, which would have protected unborn children over 5 months old except in the case of rape and the life of the mother. The Senate should be so ashamed of themselves for allowing Partial Birth Abortion of fully formed babies to continue.

According to Dan Weber President of AMAC, Mother Teresa said about abortion: “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v Wade has deformed a great nation.” and “Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love but to use any violence to get what they want.”

Dan Weber says:  We wonder why a government that gives millions of dollars to abortion facilities doesn’t instead provide funds to compensate women with an unwanted pregnancy so the unborn child can be brought to term, and then be adopted by a couple that will love and nurture a much wanted baby. And I wonder what is the matter with using the money given to Planned Parenthood to help the mother get a new start in life, a home to live in while they are pregnant, teaching them how to care for a baby, a high school education if needed and a new start in life, instead of leaving the mother to live with the horror of killing her own flesh and blood.

From me: think about school shootings and why they are happening. We are teaching children violence in this country not love. When will it end?

AMAC also encourages our Representatives in Washington to stop funding Planned Parenthood so that America is deserving of our continued blessings.

My suggestion is to vote and elect pro life candidates, Senators, Representatives, Governors and Presidents, Christian or not, and contact your Representatives and Senators in Washington and at the state level, also, your Governors to pass bill protecting the unborn. The 5 month and older bill was a good start, we can’t do it all at once, but partial birth abortion and abortion because it’s a girl and not a boy, or has a handicap, etc. would be a start. We may have to do it state by state.

Just so you know in Maine, Sen. Angus King voted no when it came to passing the bill stopping abortion over 5 months old. I don’t know yet about Sen. Collins. Please pray for him and the others that voted no since late term abortion now continues. Pray that they will soon come to realize that killing unborn babies is murder.

Here is a prayer you can say to Mary, to ask her to join us with her prayers to her son to stop abortion in this country.

MARY, MOTHER FOR LIFE

O Mary, Mother of the Life Within, all life we entrust to you: the life of every expectant mother, and the child within her womb, the life of every human body, the life of every human soul, the life of every newborn child and the life of all grown old. You held the Lord to Your own Heart and drew Him so close in. So draw us now in all our needs, O Mother of the Life Within.

A TEACHING MOMENT-OFFER IT UP

This was not the Blog I had planned for this AM but our Deacon Dave wrote in the church bulletin about a subject I have been talking about ever since I had breast cancer in 2001 or 2001.  My mother used to say this to me, it may be a Catholic way of praying that goes back hundreds of years, but it makes sense. OFFER IT UP…offer your suffering up for another, here it is:

__________________________________________________________________________________________

“I remember when I was much younger when I would stub my toe, get a cut on my finger, had a stomach ache, or just plain felt ill, my mother said I should, ‘offer it up.’ I often wondered just what that meant. Through the years, I would use those those words often, but her meaning never really sunk in deeply until I had encountered other types of sufferings later on in life.

Her explanation still rings in my ears. “Offer up your pain and suffering to God as a sacrifice.” My reply was often, ‘to what? For what?’ The teachings of the Church had not been firmly embedded in me at the time. I had no heard of ‘REDEMPTIVE SUFFERING’and if I had, I probably wouldn’t have understood it fully.

In short, redemptive suffering is attaching whatever pain, suffering, or discomfort you may have to Christ’s suffering on the cross for relief for the souls in Purgatory, for the specific relief of someone else’s pain and suffering, or given to God to be used as He sees fit.

It isn’t that Christ did not suffer enough, so that he needs our miseries to be added to his: it is just that he allows us to be part of the healing out of pure love.  The simplest and clearest analogy I’ve heard is that of a mother, baking a chocolate cake in the kitchen. She has everything she needs and doesn’t need anything or anyone else to help. In comes her little three year old daughter who says, ‘Mumma, can I help?’ And love receives. Love doesn’t say, ‘No thanks, I have enough, goodbye.’ So mother says, ‘Sure, honey.’ and the little girl throws in her attempt with a half beaten egg and mess of flower.

Shift gears. God doesn’t NEED our help. But if we offer our painful feet, our pesky cold, our cancer , our heart problems, our annoyance with the person who just cut us off in traffic to God and say, ‘GOD, PLEASE TAKE THIS___________as a gift and unite it to your suffering on the cross. Use it for.._____________or whatever way you wish.’  That is making the best possible use of suffering. WHY WASTE IT?”

______________________________________________________________________________________

And there you have it.  WHY WASTE IT? Don’t think this is easy. Sometime the pain and suffering is so much you can’t think…teach others in your family to help you think about “Offering it up” when you are in extreme suffering that never seems to end. This is what is so wrong and so hard about assisted suicide, which is so wrong, and devastating, but sometime may seem the only answer for you or those who love you. Remember GOD HAS A PLAN, so offer up your suffering for someone who is worse off than you. Teach your family to do the same things.  It does mater, God does listen, He does have a plan for you and He is in control. (Suffering on this earth may get you straight to heaven, we won’t know until we get there)

PRAYER;  Heavenly Father, you cannot be outdone in generosity, for you have given us the gift of life in the Spirit. Give us the grace to be open to this gift, that we may serve you and our brothers and sisters. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

BETSY DEVOS: EMPOWERS WOMEN

BETSY DEVOS IS EVERYTHING THE LIBERAL WOMEN SAY THEY WANT IN A WOMAN. She is educated, smart, hard working, independent, positive and a moral person. She is the type of woman they say they want their girls to become. As Pres. Trump said, “She is a brilliant and passionate education advocate.”  Isn’t that what they and all of us want for our children?  So why don’t they like her? She’s rich? She and her family worked hard to get what they have.   She’s never been Sec.  of Education before?  Good, because the Dept. of Education is not doing a good job of education. Our children placed 24th this year compared to other countries and we spend more than any other country. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH OUR DEPT OF EDUCATION. We need someone new to make changes.

SHE BELIEVES IN SCHOOL CHOICE. Isn’t that what we want for our young women and men in the poor sections of our cities and states? We want them to be able to go to Charter Schools and Private Schools that will help them to be the best they can be. We want the  black and Spanish girls to get out of the bad schools where they spend their lives pregnant and having abortions. We want them to know there is something else. Betsy DeVos can make that happen.

SHE BELIEVES COMMON CORE IS BAD. IT IS BAD FOR OUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. She can change that. “She said she, “SUPPORTS HIGH STANDARDS, STRONG ACCOUNTABILITY, AND LOCAL CONTROL. But Common Core became a federalized boondoggle. She believes, ” Every child, no matter their Zip Code or their parents’ jobs, deserves access to a quality education.”  ISN’T THAT WHAT EVERY PARENT AND EVERY LIBERAL AND CONSERVATIVE WOMAN WANTS?

SHE STRONGLY SUPPORTS SCHOOL VOUCHERS. She has been active in playing a major role in expanding the number of school choice programs available to students across the country.

SHE SUPPORTS CHARTER SCHOOLS. She and her husband Dick have been actively involved in promoting charter schools for over two decades. Charter schools are publicly funder and open to all students, but able to operate with more autonomy than traditional public schools.

SHE IS AN OUTSIDER IN WASHINGTON D.C.. Didn’t Pres. Trump promise to “drain the swamp? Isn’t the Dept of Education a great place to start?

SHE SUPPORTS HOME SCHOOLING. Is that what Liberal women have a problem with? Homeschooled children are more disciplined, more respectful, way ahead of their peers in public school and are not brainwashed with liberal propaganda. Is that the problem?

NOW THE DEVOS FAMILY. They are a true American Dream Family. Isn’t that what we want our children to see. It’s what I wanted my children to see.  Betsy’s Father in law, Richard and his partner began their little business with one Biodegradable Cleaning Product in his garage in the 50’s. It became the Amway business which is one of the most successful businesses in the world. Why?  They teach positive, moral, honest business techniques. They help individuals and families build small businesses and sometime huge businesses. They help SINGLE WOMEN AND WOMEN WITH CHILDREN along with families and Single men to build businesses to support their families.

HOW DO I KNOW THIS? Because the DeVos family helped me and some of my children build businesses. None of us built huge businesses, but, my business supplemented my income when I was raising 4 children. It gave me and my children the ability to learn what we could do with a positive attitude. Except for a short period of time, none of my children or grandchildren, men and women, have never been on welfare or food stamps. Why? Because Amway Corp and the DeVos family set examples and TAUGHT US HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Which we all are. Amway Corp. along with Richard DeVos, Dick and Betsy Devos and the incredible successful businesses that were began because of the DeVoses have help thousands and thousands of single women, women with children, men, and families become middle class and wealthy.  Betsy is part of that family. ISN’T THAT WHAT WE WANT FOR OUR CHILDREN? WHO BETTER TO TRUST WITH OUR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION.

Some of this information came from an article in Newsmax by Kelsey Harkness. Some of it is my observation and knowledge of the DeVos Family, Betsy DeVos and my personal experience.

I hope this will be food for thought for all those that opposed Betsy DeVos and also, for those who championed her.

MARY, MOTHER FOR LIFE

O Mary, Mother of the Life Within, all life we entrust to You: the life of every expectant mother and the child within her womb, the life of every human body, the life of every human soul, the life of every newborn child and the life of all grown olf. You held the Lord to Your own Heart and drew Him so close in. So draw us now in all our needs, O Mother of the Life Within.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF HOPE

O Blessed virgin Mary, mother of grace, hope of the world. Hear us, your children, who cry to you.

Oh Mother of Mercy, have pity on me in my distress. You are all-powerful with your divine Son. He can refuse no request of your immaculate heart. Show yourself at true mother to me by being my advocate before His throne.

Above all I pray, O dearest mother, that through your most powerful intercession my heart may be filled with holy hope, so that in life’s darkest hour I may never fail to trust in God my Savior, but by walking in the way of His commandments I may be united with Him, and with you in the eternal joys of heaven.

Mary, our hope, have pity on us. Hope of the hopeless, pray for us.   (from the Novena to Our Lady of Hope.)

GOD BLESS YOU ALL, PRAY FOR OUR PREGNANT MOTHERS AND THEIR UNBORN CHILDREN, THAT THEY MAY IGNORE THE WORLD, SEEK HELP, AND BRING GOD’S BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN INTO THE WORLD.

PRO LIFE -MARCH FOR LIFE

FROM CONCEPTION TO NATURAL DEATH IS THE CRY OF EVERY CATHOLIC AND HOPEFULLY EVERY CHRISTIAN.

THE MARCH FOR LIFE ON FRIDAY, JAN 28, 2017 WAS AGAIN VERY SUCCESSFUL AND VERY ENERGETIC. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ENTIRE 44 YEARS OF THE MARCH, SINCE THE YEAR AFTER ROE VS WADE WAS PASSED THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. SPOKE FROM THE STAGE. I DIDN’T HEAR HOW MANY WERE THERE, IT REALLY DOESN’T MATER, THEY MADE THEIR POINT. AND THERE WERE CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ALL AGES OF ADULTS. THERE ARE MORE EVERY YEARS AND THEY COME FROM EVERYWHERE. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME, THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT ARE PRO LIFE.

A NEW SLOGAN:  ADOPTION NOT ABORTION.

IF ANYONE READING THIS NEEDS HELP OR KNOWS OF SOMEONE THAT NEEDS HELP TELL THEM TO CALL CATHOLIC CHARITIES. They are listed in the phone book. They will have names and addresses of safe places to go for help.  Most neighborhood clinics will have names and addresses.   There are places to get free mammograms. There are places to get free birth control and there are places that will help women to keep their babies, finish school, get a job, or help them put their babies up for adoption. They do not need Planned Parenthood.   I thought the meditation  and prayer below  from the  book: THE MESSAGE OF FATIMA apply.

__________________MEDITATION____________________

JESUS, HAVING CONQUERED LIFE WITH DEATH AND SIN WITH LOVE ,appears to the women and his followers at various times and in various ways to deliver a PRO LIFE MESSAGE that goes beyond what this finite existence is able to contain.  Christ’s power is over life and death in this world and in the next!  LOVE is more powerful than death;  LIFE reaches beyond the grave for those who believe. Suffering has saving power.  Penance, and remission of sins in Christ, saves souls.

———————-PRAYER————————–

OH MARY, MOTHER OF THE LIFE WITHIN,  ALL LIFE WE ENTRUST TO YOU: THE LIFE OF EVERY EXPECTANT MOTHER, AND THE CHILD WITHING HER WOMB, THE LIFE OF EVERY HUMAN BODY, THE LIFE OF EVERY HUMAN SOUL, THE LIFE OF EVERY NEWBORN CHILD AND THE LIFE OF ALL GROWN OLD. YOU HELD THE LORD TO YOUR OWN HEART AND DREW HIM SO CLOSE IN.  SO DRAW US NOW IN ALL OUR NEEDS, OH MOTHER OF THE LIFE WITHIN.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF UNBORN CHILDREN

This was on Jan. 23, Monday, but I thought you would all like to know, since the Pro Life March is coming up soon.

In all the dioceses of the united States of America, Jan 22 (or Jan. 23, if the 22nd is on a Sunday), shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion.

GOD, OUR CREATOR, WE GIVE THANKS TO YOU, who alone have the power to impart the breath of life as you form each of us in our mother’s womb; grant, we pray, that we, whom you have made stewards of creation, may remain faithful to this sacred trust and constant ion safeguarding the dignity of every human life. THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, YOUR SON.

WE VALUE LIFE THROUGH CONCEPTION TO NATURAL DEATH.
